ESI takes part in the 12th International Foundry Trade Fair GIFA

27 Juin 2011 Paris, France
And will present the highlights of its Casting Simulation Suite Version 2011

ESI Group, pioneer and world-leading solution provider in virtual prototyping, announces its participation in the 12th GIFA Foundry Trade Fair from June 28th to July 2nd, 2011, in Düsseldorf, Germany. Running for over 20 years, GIFA has been recognized as the most important trade show for casting technology; demonstrated by the size and reputation of the exhibitors and the scientific level of the conferences.

Visitors at GIFA will have the opportunity to get a comprehensive overview of the rapid developments in the field of casting process simulation. ESI’s casting team will perform demonstrations of the new Casting Simulation Suite (ProCAST & QuikCAST) during face-to-face meetings. The ESI booth will present several members of ESI’s international and multilingual casting team, including staff from Eastern and Western Europe, North America, China, Japan and India.

This year, ESI’s booth will also feature the Audi Space Frame (ASF®), demonstrating the effective use of new aluminum and alloy casting technologies to reduce vehicle weight and decrease fuel consumption.

ESI’s Casting Simulation Suite has proven to be an indispensable tool for foundries to validate decisions during prototyping, to improve yield and to reduce manufacturing cost. It provides a complete solution, allowing predictive evaluations of the entire casting process including filling and solidification defects, mechanical properties and complex part distortion. It enables rapid visualization of the effects of design changes and allows correct decision-making at an early stage of the manufacturing process.

ProCAST offers an extensive suite of modules and foundry tools to meet the most challenging industrial requirements. The software, based on powerful Finite Element technology, is well suited to predict distortions and residual stresses of cast parts and can address more specific processes like semi-solid, core blowing, centrifugal, lost foam and continuous casting.

QuikCAST is a fast and efficient solution for complete process evaluation. The tool addresses the basics of any casting process: filling, solidification and porosity prediction including core blowing and semi-solid modeling.

ESI’s Casting Simulation Suite Version 2011 is fully integrated in a new open collaborative engineering environment allowing interoperability and chaining between both casting software and other simulation disciplines. The new developments capture best practices and analyze the as-cast or as-heat treated mechanical properties for various ferrous or light alloys. During GIFA 2011, Ole Köser, Casting Center of Excellence Manager at ESI, will present a paper on, 'Prediction of the Microstructure of Austempered Ductile Iron Casting Parts after Heat Treatment'. The presentation will be held at the parallel World Technical Forum, at 3:45pm on June 28th, 2011.
